Yakumo Experimental Farm
“Yakumo Experimental Farm” is a practical ranch affiliated with the School of Veterinary Medicine that promotes research on environmentally friendly livestock farming. It was established in 1976 and has been producing beef using 100% self-supplied feed since 1994. The farm covers approximately 370 ha, including 100 ha of grassland, 120 ha of pasture, and 150 ha of forest, and primarily raises Japanese Shorthorn cattle, crossbreeds of Japanese Shorthorn and Salers, as well as other crossbreeds involving Japanese Shorthorn. In addition to a small number of purebred cattle such as Aberdeen Angus, Hereford, and Charolais, about 250 cattle are raised in total.
